So shall we look for Windows 9? People have begun to wonder that where is Windows 9 when the market is already filled with the news of the confirmation of the Windows 10. So shall one start to hunt for the existence of Windows 9? Not necessary, fellow enthusiasts. Microsoft has the best come back considering the kind of competition it faces from OS rival brands.

Windows 9 could not exist because, the tremendous amounts and the kind of developments that have taken place, it would be wrong and unethical for them to name the OS as Windows 9. So behold everything that you need to know about the new weapon from Microsoft, the Windows 10.
The original software is still at its developments stage and so the only way we have all the information is from a press conference that was held by Joe Belfiore, the Vice President of Windows. They are also creating a particular version that will be available way before time. In order to receive feedbacks and critical analysis from multiple usage, an incomplete ‘preview’ version will be handed out to developers and programmers for free download by Microsoft. Statistics and data collected from the responses of these developers will be taken into consideration and a lot of work will be done before the final launch of this much awaited operating system.

Lets open the windows to let the light in, the start menu.

Windows 8 had a version of the start menu that was booed down very well by the users for it was too inconvenient in appearance. So the very first thing that we are very excited to clear is the much awaited start menu condition. Yes dear irritated people, the lovable start menu is back! Also Microsoft has merged the classic menu along with the one that we hated on Windows 8 to make a completely new way to access your content using ‘live tiles’. A search bar has also been provided which also does an internet search at the same time.

The entire start menu is customizable where apps can be added and removed according to convenience. Not only that, they can be rearranged and they now have a typical open window like interface allowing you to resize and minimize them instead of them entering a full screen mode.
The search bar has been included in the start menu and also the task bar giving you access to you content from almost anywhere. Windows 10 is being designed to run across all platforms ranging from mobile phones to tablets to PCs and laptops. Today, not much is known about it but then it does pose a big technical challenge for Microsoft to deal with along with giving us insights into their long term plans.

The Continuum

After the prolonged and irritating complaints they received from users, Microsoft has decided to tackle the nature of touch that oscillated between the keyboard, mouse and touch elements. It has been given the name ‘The Continuum’ which simply merges any two input method combinations. Continuum is able to detect the intention of the user depending on the interface nature and will automatically be able to switch between modes to create the perfect response.

Joe Belfiore, Vice President, Windows agrees that the continuum will be the UI feature that will bridge the gap between interfaces that will unite all the platforms from tablets to phones. But a lot of work is still yet to be completed on this to perfect it.

Virtual Desktops for work and for home

Tech Preview Task view Everything you Need to Know about Windows 10
Another feature that windows will be very proud of is not entirely unheard of considering a version of it exists on MAC OS X, is the virtual desktop feature. No official name exists for it as of now but it does offer amazing insights into a lovely picture of Windows 10.
A task view button triggers the launch of a screen that enables the user to create and jump between already existing virtual desktops. This completely customizable feature allows users to remove the clutter from the main desktop. Also, because it is customizable in nature, the user can create an environment that is different for work and for home.
While one shifts between desktops, all processes will continue to run in the background giving us one new pro and con. The pro being that Windows, initially famous for its multitasking gains back its advantageous edge in the market again. The latter being that Windows will have to make sure to incorporate a decent memory usage procedure in order to run so many multiple processes smoothly.

Availability

As of now, no news has been released from Windows about the pricing and its release date. But a copy of the incomplete version will be released within the next couple of weeks. This version will be purely designed for developers alone for them to provide valuable feedback to Windows.
It is estimated that the complete version will be available sometime in ‘2015’ but whether it will be free for upgraders or not, we are not sure about that.
In a conference that was held by Microsoft, no news talking about the price, availability and also about minimum system requirements were mentioned. This leaves people guessing that hopefully these are things one need not worry much about but on the other hand one can expect Microsoft to keep the best information to themselves just as a curiosity and a surprising element.
Upgraded versions of Windows are known for their eradication of the cons of previous versions whereas they merge the sweet parts into one another to form the next version of Windows. This being the biggest market strategy of Microsoft has helped it gain a lot of name because the newer versions of Windows have only become better with time. We hope that Windows 10 is capable of living up to the name that its creating for itself.

If you are using Ubuntu and stuck at something that needs Adobe Flash Player to view it. It may be youtube or an online game. You may click on "Install missing plugins" on your firefox browser. But sometimes it tries to find flash player but don't install it. So here is a tutorial for manually installing Adobe Flash Player for firefox on Ubuntu.

First of all, Search on Google about Adobe Flash Player. Then browse official site and find Download option. On the Download page, choose version.
Click on tar.gz file from the drop down list and click Download.
Then locate the file on your system. It'll probably in the Downloads folder. Open it using file-roller (archiever). Extract the "libflashplayer.so" file on Desktop by dragging it outside.
Now you have to place this file in the firefox plugins folder.
You can do it easily using Terminal (Ctrl+Alt+T).
 Open terminal and type:
sudo cp ~/Desktop/libflashplayer.so/ /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins
Then enter your password.

Note: The source folder /Desktop/libflashplayer.so is the path where you have extracted the libflashplayer.so file from the adobe flash player.tar.gz package.

That's it. You even don't need to restart your browser. Just refresh the page and enjoy.

3. Duolingo: Learn languages free

Google Translate may be great, but the long-term aim should be to learn to speak all those languages yourself. Duolingo does an amazing job of making this fun, with a format that's a bit like a pub quiz machine. It currently supports Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian and English, and if you "play" it regularly you'll definitely pick up at least some competence in your chosen language. With more intensive use you can give yourself a week's crash course before a trip abroad.

4. FxGuru: Movie FX Director

This slightly gimmicky special effects app is nonetheless very clever, verging on useful. It comes with a batch of free effects (the kind of things you'd see in a disaster movie) with additional packs as in-app purchases.
You point your phone or tablet at a scene (say, your office, the street or your garden), and then the app records a short video clip with a destructive missile attack or perhaps a hovering UFO superimposed over the live action. Motion tracking allows you to pan as you film, too.

5. Peppa's Paintbox

We don't review childen's cartoons, but if we did, Peppa Pig would get five stars because it's consistently brilliant in its own little way, full of practical education wrapped up in addictively snappy episodes. Like the CBeebies app, this porcine painting app has no hidden agenda so your kids can paint away without being tripped up or led astray by ads, links or in-app purchases. Madame Gazelle would certainly approve.

Uzbl

Uzbl follows the UNIX philosophy - "Write programs that do one thing and do it well. Write programs to work together. Write programs to handle text streams, because that is a universal interface." Uzbl comes in different flavors:

Epiphany

Epiphany is a simple web browser primarily intended for the GNOME desktop which works acceptably with other desktop environments as well.

The browser was forked from Galeon after developers' disagreements about Galeon's growing complexity. Since then Web has been developed as part of the GNOME project and uses most of GNOME's technology and settings when applicable. It is part of the GNOME Core Applications. As required by the GNOME Human Interface Guidelines (HIG), Web maintains the clean and simple graphical user interface with only a required minimum number of features exposed to users by default. The browser's functionality and configurability can be extended with official and third-party extensions.

Dillo

Dillo is a multi-platform graphical web browser known for its speed and small footprint.
Dillo is written in C and C++.
Dillo is based on FLTK, the Fast Light Toolkit (statically-linked by default!).
Dillo is free software made available under the terms of the GNU General Public License (GPLv3).
Dillo strives to be friendly both to users and developers.
Dillo helps web authors to comply with web standards by using the bug meter.

ELinks

ELinks is a program for browsing the web in text mode. The goal of the project has from the beginning been to provide a feature-rich text mode browser with an open patches/features inclusion policy and active development. One of these features is that ELinks includes Links-Lua which adds scripting capabilities to ELinks.

ELinks is an advanced and well-established feature-rich text mode web (HTTP/FTP/..) browser. ELinks can render both frames and tables, is highly customizable and can be extended via Lua or Guile scripts. It is quite portable and runs on a variety of platforms.

  • Local file support
  • HTTP authentication
  • Proxy authentication
  • Cute menus and dialogs
  • Tabbed browsing
  • Translated to many languages
  • Full-featured history browsing
  • Keybinding manager to easily change bindings or add new ones

Yes, the futuristic USB connector is announced to be completed. The USB 3.0
Promoter Group has announced the completion of the USB Type-C specification.

Now no more checking which side is up, just stick that charger in and move
on. Beyond charging your smartphones, the new USB will be powerful enough
to power laptops, meaning you may only need one cord for all you devices in the future.
The new USB type-C is promises to double the data transfer speeds from 5 Gbps to 10 Gbps.
The new USB type-C plug will not directly work with existing
USB plugs (Type-A, Type-B, Micro-B, etc.). This new USB 3.1 will deliver the
power up to 100 W. The connector supports scalable power charging. It would
have 3A power delivery capacity for standard cables and 5A for connectors.
This reversible USB is similar to the reversible Lightning Cable introduced
 by Apple in 2012.
